# What You'll Need:

→ Oats Base

01 - 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
02 - 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
03 - 1/2 cup Greek yogurt, plain or vanilla
04 - 2 tablespoons chia seeds
05 - 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
06 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
07 - Pinch of salt

→ Matcha Layer

08 - 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder
09 - 2 tablespoons hot water
10 - 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk

→ Strawberry Layer

11 - 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and diced
12 - 2 teaspoons lemon juice
13 - 1 to 2 teaspoons maple syrup or honey

# How to Make It:

01 - In a medium bowl, combine oats, almond milk, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir until fully incorporated.
02 - In a small bowl, whisk matcha powder with hot water until completely dissolved and smooth. Stir in the almond milk.
03 - In another bowl, toss diced strawberries with lemon juice and maple syrup. Gently mash half the strawberries to create a chunky sauce while leaving the remaining pieces diced.
04 - Divide half of the oat mixture evenly between two mason jars.
05 - Layer the strawberry mixture over the oats in each jar, reserving a few pieces for topping.
06 - Mix the remaining oat mixture with the matcha blend until smooth. Layer this mixture over the strawberries in each jar.
07 - Top each jar with reserved strawberry pieces. Seal the jars tightly with lids.
08 - Refrigerate sealed jars for at least 8 hours or overnight.
09 - In the morning, stir gently and enjoy chilled directly from the jar.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • No cooking required means you're basically eating tomorrow's breakfast while you sleep.
  • The strawberry-matcha combination tastes like springtime in a jar, but works any season.
  • Greek yogurt keeps you full through your whole morning without that heavy feeling.
  • It actually looks beautiful enough to photograph, which somehow makes breakfast feel like self-care.
02 -
  • If you whisk matcha with cold water, it becomes bitter and gritty—always use hot water and whisk hard until it's completely smooth.
  • The chia seeds need contact with liquid to hydrate properly, so don't layer them between the oat and matcha mixtures where they can't absorb enough moisture.
  • Strawberries release liquid as they sit, which is beautiful and natural, but if you want to keep the layers somewhat distinct, reserve your best pieces for the top rather than mixing them throughout.
03 -
  • Make a batch of four jars on Sunday and you've solved breakfast for half the week with literally no morning effort.
  • If your strawberries are small or super watery, mash more of them to create a better sauce-to-solid ratio.
  • Room temperature matcha tastes better than cold matcha, so stir your jar and let it sit for two minutes before eating if you have the time.
